2. Information you give us

We only ask for what we need to respond to you and do the work.

  • Quote and contact enquiries: your name, email address, phone number, the address where the work is needed, the service you are interested in, a description of the job, and any photos or plans you choose to upload. Photos may show the inside or outside of your property.
  • Phone calls, emails and messages: whatever you tell us, including through our Facebook, Instagram or Google Business Profile pages.
  • Customers: job details, site access instructions, property and switchboard information, compliance certificates, invoices and payment records. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Job applicants: your name, contact details, answers about your electrical licence, White Card, driver’s licence, notice period and right to work in Australia, and the documents you attach, such as your CV, qualifications and licences.

You can deal with us without giving your name, for example when asking a general question by phone. To quote or carry out work we need to know who you are and where the job is.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information such as health or criminal record details. If a job applicant includes this in their documents, we only use it for assessing the application.

  • whether you clicked our phone number or email address, or submitted a form
  • your IP address and technical request data, which our website security tools log to block spam, hacking attempts and abuse

This information does not tell us your name. We use it in summary form to understand how the website is used and how to improve it.

6. Who we share information with

We share personal information only as needed to run our business:

  • Service providers who host or process data for us: SiteGround (website hosting), Brevo (sending form emails), Google (email, analytics, advertising and maps), Microsoft (Clarity), Trustindex (reviews display) and our accounting and job management providers
  • Regulators and network operators such as the Office of the Technical Regulator and SA Power Networks, where the law or a connection application requires it
  • Suppliers and manufacturers, for example to register a product warranty for equipment we install
  • Our accountant, insurer and legal advisers
  • Anyone else you ask us to, such as your property manager, strata manager or builder
  • Government agencies or courts when the law requires it

Our providers may only use your information to provide their service to us.

7. Overseas storage

Some of our providers store data outside Australia. Google and Microsoft may store data in the United States and other countries. Brevo is based in the European Union. Trustindex is based in Hungary. SiteGround operates data centres in several countries. We use reputable providers with published security and privacy standards, but we cannot guarantee that overseas laws give the same protection as Australian law.

8. Marketing

We will only send you marketing emails or texts if you have agreed to receive them, or if the Spam Act 2003 otherwise allows it, for example because you are an existing customer. Every marketing message will tell you how to unsubscribe, and we will act on your request within 5 business days. Service messages about a job you have booked are not marketing.

Photos of our work. We sometimes share photos of completed jobs on our website and social media. We do not show customers, house numbers, street names or anything else that identifies your property without your permission.

9. Storage, security and how long we keep information

We store personal information in our email account, our website and our business software. We protect it with strong passwords and two-factor sign-in where available, encrypted (HTTPS) connections, website security software and limited staff access.

We keep information only as long as we need it:

  • quote enquiries that do not go ahead: up to 2 years
  • customer, job, compliance and financial records: at least 7 years, or longer where electrical safety, tax or other laws require
  • unsuccessful job applications: up to 12 months, unless you ask us to delete them sooner
  • analytics data: Google Analytics keeps event data for up to 14 months; Clarity keeps recordings for a limited period set by Microsoft

When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove identifying details.

If we have a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

10. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting us using the details in section 1. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first. If we cannot give access or make a change, for example because we must keep compliance records by law, we will explain why in writing.

11. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our business, our website tools or the law changes. The current version will always be on this page with its “last updated” date.
