Evnex EV Charger Installation at Lockleys, SA

This Lockleys homeowner had already done the hard part: solar on the roof, a battery on the wall, and an electric car in the driveway being topped up off a standard wall plug. The missing piece was a proper charging point.

We supplied and installed a 7.4kW Evnex E2 Flex on its own dedicated circuit, protected by its own RCBO at the switchboard, and set the owners up on the Evnex app before we left. One visit, one day, no return trip. This is the sort of work covered by our full EV charger installation service.

What the job involved

• A dedicated circuit. The switchboard was on one side of the property and the charger needed to go on the other, so the new cable was run up through the roof space instead of across the front of the house.
• Its own RCBO. Overcurrent and residual current protection in one device, labelled at the board so you can see at a glance which breaker feeds the charger. If a board is not up to it, that means a switchboard upgrade first.
• A CT clamp on the incoming supply. It tells the charger how much power the whole house is drawing, so a 7.4kW load cannot quietly push the supply harder than it should.
• Mounted where it is easy to use. Beside the carport, under the eave, at a height where the lead lifts off and coils back without dragging on the ground.
• Tested, certified and demonstrated. We do not leave a customer to work out the app from a leaflet.

The solar and battery were already on the house. Bice Electrical does not install solar, batteries or air conditioning. Our job was the electrical work, connected safely into a system that already existed.

The charger: Evnex E2 Flex

A single phase 7.4kW unit with a tethered lead, in the dark Volcanic finish. It adds up to 50km of range per hour, against roughly 10km an hour from the 3-pin wall plug most people start with.
